These veg momos or dim sum are made with stir-fried mix vegetable stuffing. These momos are steamed and taste good. Steamed Veg momos is a popular recipe of Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal.

The ingredients needed to make Veg Momo:

  2. Take 1 cup all-purpose flour
  3. Get As per taste Salt (but add a lil less as we will add salt in filling too)
  4. Take 2 tbsp cooking oil
  5. Take 6 tsp milk
  6. Make ready As required Water accordingly (the dough shouldn’t be sticky)

  8. Take 1 cup cabbage (finely chopped)
  9. Take 1 cup onion (normally chopped)
  10. Get 1/2 cup carrot (grated)
  11. Get 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
  12. Get 2 tbsp oil
  13. Take to taste salt
  14. Get 1/2 tsp ajinomoto/msg- optional (if adding both salt and msg make sure you balance it or else the salt content will be too high)
  15. Get 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  16. Prepare For chutney:
  17. Make ready 5-6 Dry red chillies
  18. Make ready 2-3 roasted & skin peeled tomatoes
  19. Get 4-5 garlic pods
  20. Prepare 1/4 cut ginger
  21. Prepare 1 tbsp lemon juice
  22. Take to taste Salt

Veg Momos Recipe with step by step photos - This is the popular street food in India which is originally a Tibetan recipe. There are many varieties of momos you will find at the stalls. Momo is a type of East and South Asian steamed filled dumpling, popular across the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayan regions of South Asia. Veg Momos are vegan dumplings stuffed with a stir fried mix of finely chopped carrots and cabbage.

Steps to make Veg Momo:
  1. Firstly, take a bowl and add 1 cup all-purpose flour. Add salt, 2 tbsp oil.
  2. Then make a hole at the centre and add 6 tsp milk, mix it and add water(slowly) and start kneading the dough. - (The dough shouldn’t be sticky)
  3. Once the dough is ready, cover it with a wet muslin cloth and keep it aside.
  4. For preparing the filling, we will take 1 cup of chopped cabbage, onion and 1/2 cup of grated carrot (make sure you squeeze the excess water) and put it on a bowl.
  5. Then add salt to taste, msg(optional), 1/2 tsp black pepper powder.
  6. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a small pan and add 1 tbsp grated ginger to it, let it sizzle and directly pour it to the prepared filling.
  7. Mix the filling well. (The ingredients may be adjusted according to the taste)
  8. Preparing the wrapper: form small circular balls out of the dough.
  9. Roll the dough. Make sure that the dough is thick at the centre and thin at the edges.
  10. Shaping the momo: Once the rolling is done. Take the wrapper apply water at the edge(using your finger).
  11. Now add the filling at the centre. - Start at one top of the half moon, and fold over a very small piece of dough, pinching it down.
  12. Steaming the momo: It can be done in momo utensil or any other streamer you have/ even in rice cooker.
  13. Make sure you oil the surface before adding the momo. Steam it for 10-20 minutes(depending on the utensil).
  14. For Chutney: Take a grinder, add 5-6 dry chilli (make sure it’s soaked in hot water for 10 mins), 2-3 roasted & skin peeled tomatoes, 4-5 garlic pods, 1/4’cut ginger piece, 1 tbsp lemon juice and salt to taste. - Grind it, may add water to (acc to the consistency you want).
  15. Serve hot and enjoy!
  16. Note: The ingredients can be doubled for more servings and also be adjusted accordingly.
